Flexible Work Arrangements

Change Your Life!

Have you ever wondered about changing your hours of work?
Have you ever struggled with balancing your job against your personal commitments?

Have you ever longed for a change from the routine?

Have you ever just wondered how you will fit everything in?

WARNING: This information may change your life.

The promotion of Flexible Work Arrangements is an undertaking that arises out of the 2004-2005 Corporate Human Resource Plan.

The Yukon Government's Corporate Human Resource Plan evolved from a series of planning meetings in which senior level public servants
identified a new vision and set of principles to guide human resource activity throughout the Government.

This plan highlights the Government's commitment to its employees and works toward its vision to be a results-oriented employer of choice, focused on service to the public.

Deputy Ministers have identified four guiding objectives to help sustain the Government as a healthy, high performing organization. These four objectives are:

  • To achieve the corporate goals and objectives
  • To provide high quality service to the public
  • To work with others to achieve common goals
  • To make it possible for employees to establish a work:life balance.

The Corporate Human Resource Plan identified broad direction to guide the human resource goals of Yukon Government departments. In 2004, the Human Resource Management Advisory Committee, in conjunction with the Public Service Commission, identified the promotion of flexible working arrangements as one particular way to help make it
possible for employees to establish a good work:life balance. Yukon Government Deputy Ministers have endorsed the promotion of flexible working arrangements across government departments as one of the priorities to support the guiding objectives of our organization.

The information provided on flexible work arrangments pertains to most public servants, including managerial employees. References where applicable are to the 2003-2006 Yukon Government-PSAC collective agreement.

If you have any questions about how flexible working arrangements can work for you, please contact your Human Resource Branch, Employee Compensation (667-3067), or the Staff Relations Branch (667-5253) in the Public Service Commission.
