Individuals who come to the Supervisory Success Program (SSP), a component of the Investing in Public Service (IPS) framework, are government employees who are, or aspire to be, supervisory or management employees. Each comes with personal goals to gain new skills and knowledge to become better at what they do and “be the best they can be”. They tell us that they want to:
The time commitment required to complete this program is quite substantial and requires support and commitment on behalf of the participant, the participant’s supervisor and the workplace that is left behind.
Do I have to be a supervisor to participate in the new program?
The new program is targeted at those employees who currently supervise. However, from time to time operational requirements will dictate that an employee who is not a supervisor attend. One example might be where an employee is about to undertake a long term acting assignment as a supervisor.
I am a supervisor, and I’ve taken one or more of the previously offered supervisory courses. Should I apply to participate in the new program?
Yes. The new program differs considerably from what was previously offered, and is now closely tied with what supervisors need to know, understand, or be able to do within our government organization.
