Retirement Planning - Links to some basic information

What's so important about retirement planning? For years, people have been retiring and living quite comfortably on their pensions. Why do we need to be concerned about planning for the future all of a sudden?

In short, the environment has changed. We're living longer and need more money to cover expenses for a longer period of time. Many of us are retiring earlier to be able to enjoy a more balanced lifestyle. People have different expectations about retirement - it's no longer just sitting in the rocking chair on the front porch and visiting with the grandkids.

Retirement planning is about taking control of your future. Developing an understanding of what your financial and lifestyle needs will be, and making plans to provide for them, puts you in charge.

This guide has been developed to help familiarize you with some of the basic components of retirement planning. For further information, we encourage you to attend our two-day workshop, Retirement and Financial Planning: Your Yukon Pension and Lots More.
