Yukon government provides an extensive benefits plan to eligible employees of the Government of Yukon, Members of the Legislative Assembly, for persons employed under the Cabinet and Caucus Employees Act and for former employees receiving pension benefits.

The group insurance benefit plans, with the exception of the Public Service Superannuation Plan (PSSP) Supplementary Death Benefit, are governed by the Public Service Group Insurance Benefit Plan (PSGIBP) Act [80 KB
]. The PSSP Supplementary Death Benefit is tied to participation in the pension plan and falls under the responsibility of the Federal government.
The group insurance benefits under the PSGIBP Act are managed by a Joint Management Committee (JMC), who report to the Minister of Finance. The JMC is made up of representatives from four employee groups (Yukon Employees' Union, Yukon Teachers' Association, Confidential employees, Management employees) and three representatives from the employer (Department of Finance and the Public Service Commission).
The group insurance plans, with the exception of the Supplementary Death Benefit, are insured with Sun Life Financial of Canada. Sun Life’s Member Services
