Deferred Salary Leave - all you want to know

A Deferred Salary Leave Plan (DSLP) provides eligible employees the opportunity to finance a leave of absence without pay by deferring portions of their gross annual salary to the year of leave.

The Government of Yukon currently has three different DSLP plans:

  • one for the Yukon Employees' Union
  • one for the Yukon Teachers' Association
  • one for the Management group

Please refer to the plan below that is applicable to your employee group for the following information:

  • details on the length of the leave of absence which can vary depending on the plan you participate in
  • the deferred salary formula
  • information on how income tax, Canada Pension Plan deductions, and Employment Insurance premiums will be dealt with
  • what will happen with your benefits while on the leave of absence
  • application information - e.g. approvals, dates and deadlines

Calculating your deferred salary

  • Deferred Salary Leave Calculator
The calculator is on an-line tool to give eligible employees an idea of what their pay could be if enrolled in a deferred salary leave plan.
