We provide practical tips and support throughout the Yukon government interview process and post-interview debriefing.

Resume database

We maintain an inventory of resumes submitted by Yukon First Nation job seekers that we can provide to Yukon government departments.

Support services

We offer individual support for employees to adapt to a Yukon government work environment. (A culturally relevant support group, the Aboriginal Employees Forum, was launched in June 2007.)

Temporary assignment placement services

We encourage Yukon government employees to take temporary positions with First Nation governments and Yukon First Nation government employees to take temporary assignments with the Yukon government. Assignments help all employees gain valuable work experience as well as an understanding the organizational culture in different governments. Temporary assignments also build and enhance the self-government capacity of Yukon First Nation governments.

Staffing process public information sessions

The Public Service Commission’s Corporate Human Resource Services Branch provides staffing process information sessions for people who want to apply for a Yukon government job.

First Nation Training Corps

The First Nation Training Corps (FNTC) offers training opportunities in the Yukon government to Yukon First Nation people. There are FNTC positions in a variety of occupations at various levels in the Yukon public service.

FNTC provides on-the-job training and professional development in the Yukon public service. This may be supplemented with courses, workshops and conferences by the departments. Positions vary in length but most last from one to two years.

First Nation governments may request training for their citizens to fill anticipated vacancies in their government. This is on-the-job training that may be supplemented with courses, workshops and conferences.

The program also assists Yukon government departments with succession management by attracting Yukon First Nation people to the public service.

Temporary assignments

WDEO First Nation Services helps both Yukon government employees on temporary assignment with a First Nation government and First Nation government employees who come to the Yukon government on a temporary assignment.

Temporary assignments provide an opportunity for Yukon First Nation citizens and Yukon government employees to gain valuable work experience and expand their skill base. These assignments foster a mutual understanding of the workplace, and build and enhance the self-government capacity of Yukon First Nation governments.
