Job Evaluation System Manual

Authority

The contents of this manual have been authorized by the Public Service Commission and approved by Cabinet.

Purpose

The purpose of this manual is to serve as a reference guide to the Yukon Government job evaluation system. It is anticipated that manual users will have a variety of reasons to access the information it contains.

Organization of Manual

The manual is organized in five sections:

  1. General is a general introduction to job analysis, job evaluation, and point rating plans such as the system described in this manual.
  2. Job Evaluation Plan explains the factors used in the Government of Yukon's job evaluation system to assess each job. This chapter also contains a description of the occupational groups.
  3. Rating Scales contains the official charts used to assign points for each job factor. A chart is also included showing the point ranges or levels within each group.
  4. Benchmarks contains benchmark descriptions and evaluations. These are standards which serve as a reference point for all other classifications.
  5. Management Benchmarks contains benchmark descriptions and evaluations for jobs in the MG Group.
